Churchgoing and Pew Study at the Interdependent Web
Category: Uncategorized
This week’s Interdependent Web is up at the UUWorld!
Growth was the major topic of discussion among Unitarian Universalist bloggers this week.
Following up on last week’s debate over congregationalism, we discussed the new Pew Study showing that over half a million Americans identify as Unitarian Universalist, even though far fewer are members of UU congregations. That led into a discussion of why many UU’s may be turned off from church, and what we can do to make our congregations more welcoming. And there was conversation about what kinds of goals we should set for the establishment of new congregations. Unitarian Universalism is on the move!
Update 3/2/08: Thank you to the thoughtful reader who pointed out an error in the post (the use of the term “Universalist” where it should have read “Unitarian Universalist.”) It has been corrected.
