Prayers
Category: Uncategorized
The posts I have written about prayer have been some of my favorite posts. I enjoyed exploring the questions I have about prayer, and finding out how other Unitarian Universalists have addressed them. Although Unitarian Universalists are sometimes hesitant to discuss prayer, when we do, we learn from one another. Talking about prayer with other Unitarian Universalists–and praying with other Unitarian Universalists–has helped me to have a deeper prayer practice.
A meaningful discussion about prayer can take place online as well. I’ve been pleased to see a number Unitarian Universalists sharing written prayers on their websites. Here are a few that have lifted my heart:
Chance Hunter, at Open the Doors, offers a short and beautiful prayer: “Prayer: April 29 Worship Service.”
The author of Root and Source has written a prayer celebrating the springtime.
Rev. Sam Trumbore, writing for his blog in the Times Union, also shares a prayer drawing on the imagery of the natural world: “Easter Prayer.”
Chip, at the yes church, shares a prayer for the ordination of a minister (although I think you will agree that this prayer encompasses themes relevant to many of our lives): “Prayer for John Cullinan’s Ordination.”
