Happy First Night of Hannukah!
I am especially excited about Hannukah this year, because we are blessed to have two sets of family in town, both of whom invited us to celebrate with them.
NPR has a series of Hannukah stories that explore the holiday through the stories of different writers: Best of Hannukah Lights: Eight Stories, Eight Nights. (Thanks to Splitting Hairs in Forest Hills for the tip). These stories are told in the NPR cadence that gets a little predictable, but I found them addictive. “Nona Maccabeus” by Gloria DeVidas Kirchheimer is my favorite so far.

We are celebrating too! We dug up the menorah that our Sparkly Girl made in Sunday School so long ago out of glitter, glue, a board and nuts to hold the candles. I bought little dreidels to play with tonight and M&M’s as gelt. It should be fun. Enjoy!

What a cool Menorah; maybe you could post a photo if you have one?
Happy Channukah! And tell Sparkly Girl I say good luck on the college applications.
